竹北鼎王於去年(2012年)12月中開幕之後,新竹的朋友終於不用大老遠跑到台中或台北就能一窺麻辣鍋名店的真面目了! 不過名店就是名店,用餐時段沒事先訂位,現場排個30分鐘算是稀鬆平常,另外,還有1小時30分用餐限時。 鼎王起家台中忠孝夜市,歷經轉型,目前以打造中國傳統藝術與現代美學的用餐環境為主軸,從裝潢到鍋具,都可以看見中國風格融合現代藝術的簡潔感。 如此環境,加上桌次不多而享有的寬廣空間,成功的將平價餐點「火鍋」提升到另外一種境界。

鼎王的麻辣鍋濃而不濁,食用時,會有股花椒的香味在嘴中盪漾。 酸菜鍋則是採用果醋醃製的酸菜調製,酸而不刺喉。 由於當天麻辣鍋的「小辣」幾乎沒什麼辣度,連不敢吃辣的朋友也加入麻辣鍋的行列,因此酸菜鍋是處於乏人問津的狀態。

這一頓吃下來,我們14人一人平均花費500元左右,雖然說沒有想像中的好吃,但以食物的品質、分量與餐廳的環境、服務來說,算是還可以接受。 最後,網路上查的結果,竹北店的美味度似乎沒有台中店佳,看來似乎還是要找機會去台中吃吃看囉!
